"Although I know serving the public, particularly that portion of the public on vacation is a tough line of work, you make it look easy. By doing so, you added greatly to our pleasure on our trip. The facilities were more than suitable, the pick-up timely, the meal service pleasant, the permit and ice availability convenient and the pre-trip and post-trip loading and unloading efficient. But more impressive than any of these or all of them together was the cheerful friendliness you showed in all your dealing with us. It is a pleasure to be under your charge.." John L.. |

CANOE TRIPS...A Unique Adventure! The canoe country offers some 15,000 square miles of verdant, primitive forest dominated by lakes and streams full of drinking pure water -- all interconnected -- inviting you to come within -- to explore and enjoy. Paddle these endless lakes by canoe under your own power. Enjoy the challenge and break of pace offered by overland portages that take you to the wonder of yet another unfamiliar lake. A canoe trip is "getting away from it all", a sudden absence of pressure, a melding with nature, solitude, the cry of the Loon, a warm mid-day sun and cooling breezes across the lake, a refreshing swim, and the welcome smell of the campfire. It is all these things... and more. To enjoy all this, you need only come to Saganaga -- you need not be experienced at canoeing. Superior-North Canoe Outfitters will supply you with the equipment and assist you in planning and preparation. We try to provide you with the type of trip you wish that is suited to your needs. Canoe the same routes traveled by the famous Voyageurs of centuries past -- over the interlacing lakes, rivers and rapids where, even today there are no roads, aircraft, private or commercial development. Camp each evening on the lake of your choice and cook over an open fire. Fresh caught fish are delicious on the trail. Sleep will come easy snug in your sleeping bag inside a waterproof tent with the lapping of waves and whisper of the wind rustling tall pines. Young and old may enjoy the canoe country. |

Fishing the Superior-Quetico |
|||||||||||||||||||
| Travel by canoe enables you to reach some of the best fishing to be found anywhere. Smallmouth bass action on the border waters cannot be topped. Walleyes are found in nearly all the lakes in good sizes and quantities. Saganaga Lake yielded the state record 17 1/2 lb. walleye in 1979. Lake trout are native in many of the lakes averaging 2 to 5 lbs. Northern pike are found in all the lakes. You never know when a 20 pounder will devour your lure. | |||||||||||||||||||

Base Camp |
|||||||||||||||||||
| This type of trip is ideal for families with small children and parties who do not wish to make more than one or two portages. We will help you select a base camp location where you can set up camp for an extended stay, exploring and fishing the waters of your choice by day, and returning to camp each evening. A boat and motor may be rented for base camping if you prefer. Lashing two canoes together like a catamaran while traveling the lakes provides an alternative for extra stability. | |||||||||||||||||||
